Please join us Saturday afternoon at the Sebring Civic Center for our annual Independence Day display. This is an opportunity to talk with area residents about the party and is the first big event of the new membership drive. "I've found there's a lot of dissatisfaction out there and people don't know where to turn," said new APF Highlands County Chairman Bill Youngman. "A lot of folks will find this is just what they have been looking for." The American Party of Florida has had a presence at the Sebring Independence Day celebration for the past two years. This year, state chairman Tom Macklin will again participate in the Highlands Little Theatre's patriotic revue. Entitled "It's a Wonderful Country," the program is a compendium of new and traditional music woven around the American experience. Members of the party are also encouraged to bring individual baked goods like cookies, cupcakes or brownies that can be sold as a fundraising activity. There also will be bottles of cold water for sale. Set up will begin at 2pm with the events to run from 4 - 8pm. Please attend and bring a friend as we build the party both locally and across the Sunshine State. |

The American Party of Florida is embarking on its first ever membership and fund-raising drive. The goal is to spend the next year, organizing and developing the APF into an organization that can assist candidates and those who have ballot issues to get traction with the citizenry either through the established media or by other means. "We have been working for the last two years in stabilizing our base, now it is time to begin to move into other parts of Florida to shore up those who have been carrying the APF standard, as well as establishing other executive committees across the Sunshine State," said APF State Chairman Tom Macklin. The first step toward that goal came to fruition earlier this month, when the APF established a statewide office in the Hainz Professional Center in downtown Sebring. "This is a prestigious address and certainly a message to people that we are here to stay and that we mean business," Macklin said. Moreover, the Teaparty movement has been a clear indication that there are increasing numbers of people who believe in the provisions of the American Party of Florida and are looking for different ways to both express their dissatisfaction as well as to stop the runaway governmental officials in both Tallahassee and Washington. |

Thanks to Barry &Olive Parker for this one; As cities, counties and states default on their obligations and unemployment insurance runs out, devolution sets in.
While some see a collapse of society in our future, right now I see devolution, not revolution. Devolution is both the process of degeneration and the surrender of governmental powers from central authorities to local authorities. Devolution will take many forms. The key driver behind devolution is simple: there's not enough money to fund the status quo, so something has to be cut, axed, trimmed or devolved. Examples already abound: the number of school days in the year are reduced to shave expenses, two-times-a-week trash pickup is cut to once a week, etc. The key constraint on devolution is also simple: the status quo power structure must be left intact. Nobody will willingly surrender their power, so devolution means services and front-end expenses will be cut in order to protect back-end administrative powers. Thus public union bosses won't be suffering any big cuts in pay or benefits, and neither will their municipal and state administration counterparts. (Of course there will be symbolic cuts for PR purposes, but nothing deep.) What will be cut is part-time librarians, custodians, county park staff, etc.--the powerless people who actually serve the public. |
