Gayle Harrell has fallen less than a thousand votes short in the Republican primary for the District 16 Congressional seat. Final results show Tom Rooney with 20,520 votes to Gayle's 19,574. Hal Valeche finished third with 15,812.
"I just want to thank all my supporters and especially those members of the American Party of Florida who switched to vote for me in the primary," she said.
In fact, more than one APF member helped with flag rallies and other events to try and launch Harrell's campaign, citing her work on trying to seal the borders and thwart illegal immigration as reasons they lined up behind the Republican's campaign effort.
In fact, winner Rooney had gained the endorsement of the Highlands County Republican Executive Committee.
APF State Chairman Tom Macklin took the opportunity to call on Gayle to come over and join the party, noting that her stance on limited government and against illegal immigration are very much in line with the APF party platforms.
"Actually, her campaign groups might want to think about becoming APF executive committees and continuing the fight for government accountability, term limits and putting a stop to illegal immigration," he said.
Harrell has pledged to come back and throw a "Thank You" party for members of the APF who supported her campaign.
